The sofa is one of the most used pieces of furniture in our home, but over time it can accumulate dust and stains that can ruin the look and cleanliness of the fabric or leather. Many cleaning products contain harsh chemicals that can be harmful to our health and the environment. Fortunately, there are several methods to remove stains from your sofa using only natural ingredients, for both fabric and leather sofas. In this article we will look at two methods to clean different types of sofas.
How to clean a fabric sofa
Fabric sofas usually have removable covers and can therefore be easily machine washed. However, some stains are difficult to remove. In this case, you can use white vinegar and baking soda. White vinegar is a powerful natural disinfectant and deodorant, while baking soda is known for its absorbent and bleaching properties.
You will need white vinegar, baking soda, a glass of warm water, a spray bottle, a clean cloth, and a vacuum cleaner. Let’s see how to use these ingredients to clean your sofa.
Before you start, vacuum the sofa to remove dust and all residue from the surface. Mix one part white vinegar with one part warm water and pour the solution into the spray bottle. Then spray the solution on the stain and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. Then sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on the stain and gently rub it with the clean cloth in circular motions. Then let it dry naturally and then vacuum up the remaining baking soda.
You can therefore choose to wash the sofa cover or proceed with dry cleaning. Let’s now see how to remove stains from sofas that rarely have removable covers, i.e. leather ones.
